Trad For Teens

An opportunity for secondary school aged pupils to get together and take part in group music-making. You can download an application form here (pdf, 264 kB. You`ll need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this link - you can download it here).

Who can attend?

Anyone who has reached an intermediate or advanced level on their instrument and is currently at secondary school. These are mixed instrument classes so please feel free to bring along any instrument!

When?

These workshops take place roughly every two months. The dates for our 2008 workshops are:

Sunday 17th February11am – 4pm
Sunday 20th April11am – 4pm
Sunday 22nd June11am – 4pm
Sunday 24th August11am – 4pm
Sunday 26th October11am – 4pm

Where?

The workshops will take place at The Edinburgh Society of Musicians, 3 Belford Road, Edinburgh.

Tutor

James Ross These workshops will be led by James Ross. The emphasis will be on traditional Scottish music. Pianist James Ross studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, and graduated with a BA in Scottish Music in 2000. He then completed the MA in Traditional Irish Music Preformance in 2001, studying piano under Professor Michael O’Suilleabhain at the University of Limerick, Ireland. James recently released his debut album and he is fast making a name for himself as a composer. James is a popular EYG tutor and he regularly teaches at our Easter Youth Gaitherin event.

Cost

Each workshop costs £10. Please contact Fiona if you think you may be eligible for a subsidised place.
