Singing Out!A weekend of workshops for young people from S1 – S6, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2008Would you like to make music with other young people? How about writing your own songs? and the chance to perform alongside a professional band! Workshops in vocals, song writing, and instrumental accompaniment for song led by Findlay Napier and the Bar Room Mountaineers and funded by the Youth Music Initiative.These workshops will be led by Findlay Napier and his band The Bar Room Mountaineers. Findlay is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow. He studied Scots Song under Andy Hunter and Alison MacMorland. His love of song writing has led to his own songs being broadcast and recorded by other artists. Findlay has released an album of songs co-written with Nick Turner. Also in the band are the first ever BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Gillian Frame (fiddle and vocals), Paul Jennings (percussion and vocals) and Douglas Millar (keyboards and vocals). Workshops will take place 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday (venue tbc) and you will then perform at a gig on Sunday evening with Findlay and the band. The weekend costs £40.
